On the Brooklyn Bridge

Vo An Ninh in Hanoi, Vietnam (1985)

Born in South Vietnam and raised in New York,  I’ve been a student of photography for almost 20 years.  The focus of my work is New York City – the people, the landscapes, the architecture.  NYC is a special place that is alive - always changing and adapting.  Street photography is my ongoing project.  As an observer of life, I strive to document this ever-changing city.  All of my street photos are candids that capture fleeting moments of real people going about their lives.  I never ask anyone to pose or in any way create an artificial scene. To me, there is beauty in authentic moments that can last less than a second.  Though NYC is the center of the universe, I do enjoy traveling and capturing images of different cities.  The observer in me thrives on exploration and discovery.  Every vacation or business trip presents a chance to see the world through my lens.

I dedicate all of my work to my great grandfather, Vo An Ninh.  He was one of the foremost photographers in Vietnam.  I can never match his skill but I like to think that there is a part of him in each of my photos.

Hope you enjoy what you see.
